(HCPI) today announced the arrival of the all-new 8th Generation Honda Accord in a luxurious setting inside the posh Hotel Sofitel (formerly, Westin Philippine Plaza). Featuring a bigger body shell and revolutionary technologies, the 8th generation Accord debuts in Honda showrooms nationwide beginning March 12, 2008.

The simple yet impressive combination of refined colors and woodgrain panels radiate pleasure and quality, while the rich leather interior and fine craftsmanship that extends to the smallest details present luxury and comfort.
The new concept interface of the cockpit gives the Accord an advanced and modern look. The forward-shifted dashboard with flat, lower positioning of wipers provide a feeling of openness and freedom, while the high-mounted instrument panel is situated for effortless visibility and enhanced driving concentration. Enlarged for luxurious comfort yet more powerful and responsive than ever, the new Accord delivers flawless control of handling and maneuverability. Powered by the ingenious i-VTEC engine, the Accord is available in 3.5-liter V6 and 2.4-liter DOHC inline 4 variants.
Capable of producing 275 ps @ 6200 rpm, the 3.5-liter Accord is the most powerful Accord ever, designed for higher energy but with lower fuel consumption. In addition to the efficient i-VTEC engineering, the 3.5-liter V6 engine is accompanied by Honda‘s new Variable Cylinder Management or VCM643 system that further enhances fuel economy by partial deactivation of some cylinders through freely controlled engine displacement.
The VCM643 system, as the name suggests, allows the engine to go through the 6-4-3 process, improving the overall fuel economy while maintaining the high power output of a V6 engine, as it smoothly shifts from 6 cylinders into 4 cylinders and further into 3 cylinders operation, depending on the driver‘s needs.
Transition from one engine mode to another is seamless and goes unnoticed by the passengers. Active control engine mounting cancels out engine vibration and the active noise control system produces noise-canceling tone through the speaker reduces engine sound.
On the other hand, the 2.4-liter engine produces 180 ps @ 6500 rpm and creates optimal balance between power and fuel efficiency.
Enjoy the spirited driving of a manual transmission with the steering wheel mounted new Paddle Shifters. With this improved system, switching from automatic transmission to Paddle Shift mode can be done easily by simply tapping on the paddles on the right to upgrade gears or on the left to downgrade without transferring to S mode. This development allows faster and more convenient transition between transmissions.
Moreover, the Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering system lets the Accord achieve superb maneuverability and more accurate steering despite its large body size. The computer controlled Drive by Wire provides optimum control of engine power and torque output in response to amount of pedal action to achieve smooth and powerful acceleration. Double wishbone suspension in front and multi-link double wishbone suspension in the rear assure excellent driving stability and superior riding comfort.
Honda‘s renowned commitment to safety is very much evident in the new Accord, with the advanced six (6) airbags system with OPDS (Occupant Position Detection System), 3-point ELR seatbelts with load limiter and pretensioner functions and Honda‘s G-CON (G-force Control) impact-absorption technology that reduces potential injuries not only to its occupants but to pedestrians as well. The new Accord is further protected by ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) , which work together to help the driver avoid hazardous motoring conditions.
